About The Position
Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the adult in custody population within a correctional facility. This role involves taking medical histories, examining patients, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications. Responsibilities also include clinically managing injuries through suturing, splinting, and immobilizing, attending to medical emergencies, and performing minor surgery with local anesthesia. The practitioner will record progress notes, recommend outside consultations, provide patient instruction and counseling, and order or carry out therapy. Emergency consultation is required when deemed necessary.
Requirements
- California Nurse License
- Driver's License
- BLS- AHA Certificate
- Graduation certification of a credited school.
- Continuing on-going medical education
Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the adult in custody population.
- Take medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays.
- Make a diagnosis, provide treatment plans and prescribe medications.
- Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing.
- Attend to medical emergencies.
- Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy.
- Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits.
- Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary.
