Requirements

  • Completion of community college diploma/certificate.
  • 3 to less than 5 years of work related experience.
  • Completion of a post-secondary education program in mechanical/quality engineering

Nice To Haves

  • ASQC certification as a quality engineer (CQE) preferred
  • Tier I automotive experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, participate in, and approve Customer Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) supporting program timing
  • Ensure all APQP requirements are tracked and met using planned milestones
  • Review required government approvals and develop inspection standards where applicable
  • Lead plant trials for engineering changes, tool moves, and new program launches
  • Lead problem-solving for launch quality concerns (pre-SOP), including 8D, 7-Step, 5-Phase, Is/Is Not, and 6-Panel methods
  • Participate in warranty reviews where applicable
  • Manage new model launch (pre-SOP) field support to ensure effective containment and timely issue closure
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and supplier drawing reviews
  • Prepare and maintain control plans in accordance with MQS 7
  • Develop receiving inspection matrices and instructions
  • Develop Product Validation (PV) plans including reliability and confidence requirements
  • Implement safe launch plans for new programs
  • Participate in PFMEA reviews and sign-offs
  • Verify BOM accuracy during program launches
  • Facilitate supplier deviation requests through closure
  • Coordinate early supplier involvement with design and purchasing
  • Ensure adherence to Platform Execution Process (PEP) requirements
  • Prepare and present Launch Readiness Reviews (LRR)
  • Establish and approve supplier PPAP timing prior to PV testing
  • Support pre-production builds
  • Conduct PV test fixture verification and setup reviews
  • Ensure appropriate test parts are built and delivered to test labs
  • Review in-process testing and post-test results
  • Lead Test Incident Report (TIR) investigations and 8D responses
  • Conduct annual validation testing as required by customers
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designate
