About The Position

We are seeking an Advanced Quality Engineer in our Broomfield, CO, location to strengthen the quality and production readiness of complex quantum computing hardware. This role applies hands-on quality engineering across design, supplier, receiving, integration, test, and production activities. The engineer will independently own quality workstreams, solve technically complex hardware problems, improve product and process controls, and mentor others while partnering closely with R&D, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing. All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum
  • Minimum 5+ years of quality, manufacturing, product, or reliability engineering experience supporting complex hardware.
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience with nonconformance management, material review, root cause analysis, and corrective action for hardware or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting hardware across multiple lifecycle stages, including development builds, qualification or verification, production release, and sustaining improvement.
  • Experience using data to evaluate product quality or process performance and communicate technically sound recommendations.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T and converting them into practical inspection or acceptance methods.
  • Hands-on experience with precision mechanical assemblies, electronics, optics, lasers, photonics, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, or similarly complex equipment.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Experience with quality inspections and vendor management
  • Experience with reliability testing of optical components and opto-mechanical systems
  • Experience with data analytics for hardware performance
  • Ability to build strong relationships and effectively partner with others
  • Excellent organization, communication, and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Own quality engineering activities for complex mechanical, electrical, optical, opto-mechanical, vacuum, cryogenic, and photonics hardware through development and production.
  • Develop and improve QMS processes, procedures, records, and audit evidence that support configuration control, product traceability, and scalable hardware production
  • Translate drawings, specifications, critical-to-quality characteristics, and system requirements into inspection plans, acceptance criteria, control plans, and objective evidence of conformity.
  • Partner with design and manufacturing engineers during design reviews, build readiness reviews, and hardware releases to improve manufacturability, inspectability, testability, reliability, and traceability.
  • Provide hands-on support for receiving inspection, in-process inspection, first article inspection, prototype builds, integration, test, and production troubleshooting.
  • Lead structured investigation of nonconforming hardware using containment, material review, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and effectiveness verification.
  • Apply risk-based quality methods such as design and process FMEA, control plans, inspection sampling, measurement system analysis, and mistake-proofing.
  • Analyze yield, defect, escape, rework, reliability, and process-capability data to identify risk, prioritize improvement work, and verify sustained results.
  • Work with suppliers and material management to define quality requirements, resolve supplier issues, improve incoming quality, and ensure hardware arrives ready for use.
