Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Advanced Quality Control Technician is responsible for supporting product quality and operational excellence at our Ames facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials and finished products meet rigorous quality standards. You will perform laboratory testing, calibration, documentation, and technical problem-solving while collaborating closely with Operations and Technical Support. This position is part of the Ames-Hach Company located in Ames Iowa and will be on-site.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of scientific laboratory experience
  • Completion of at least 1 year of college-level chemistry with laboratory coursework
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques, including preparation of standard solutions, dilutions, and titrations
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to document and analyze

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparation of laboratory standard solutions. (When possible, the standards are traceable to N.I.S.T.)
  • Release conforming material to operations or stock.
  • Halt shipment of nonconforming or questionable materials.
  • Discuss with Analytical Services and Operations, test results and disposition of materials.
  • Prepare nonconforming notics
  • Maintain records of test results, equipment re-certification and calibration, identification of manufactured and purchased products, product history files, records of on-time delivery, and product releases
  • Responsible for proper procurement and storage of tested reference samples. Includes filing of Quality Assurance paperwork and obtaining the sample storeroom sample. Also responsible for overseeing the filing of samples for storage and the disposal of samples which have been stored over five year
  • Maintain a clean lab area to eliminate contamination
