About The Position

KBR is seeking an Advanced Program Support Technician (2nd Shift) to support their SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM for KBR’s Science and Space division. This role is part of establishing new 2nd Shift operations, and the ideal candidate will be capable of being qualified in multiple working areas while helping to stand up these operations. The technician will be responsible for manufacturing, building, testing, and maintenance of aerospace flight hardware, including Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) Suits and components, focusing on pressure integrity layers, EVA Tools and Crew Aids, ancillary equipment, advanced program and other contracts and subsystem equipment. Manufacturing equipment and processes include 3D printers, RF welders, and fabric laser and wheel cutters. Testing of hardware involves repair and maintenance, cleaning, inspection, Engineering Change (EC) incorporation, assembly, disassembly, and performance/functional testing. Repair and maintenance processes require the use of hazardous materials such as adhesives, lubricants, and solvents.

Requirements

This is a second shift position tentatively scheduled for 3pm-12am.
Must be able to pass a Class III Physical; Physiological Training; Clean Room and Controlled Work Area Training
Must have excellent mechanical skills and be able to read, comprehend, and execute detailed technical processing procedures, engineering drawings, and Work Authorizing Document directions
Candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a good driving record and be able to operate a government vehicle
Excellent oral and written communications; must be able to read and interpret Work Authorizing Documents (WADs) and mechanical design drawings
Capacity to work in a team environment
High School Diploma or equivalent GED
5+ years of related experience

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree plus applicable years directly related Technical Degree or Military Technical School (skilled craft level five) or the equivalent of High School Graduate plus applicable years of directly related work experience.
Experience with Pressure Systems desired or familiar with Pressurized Test Equipment

Responsibilities

Manufacturing, maintenance, assembly, testing, repair and processing of hardware to support various events, and deliverables; incorporates engineering changes, and performs functional performance testing of Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) components or related hardware, associated Extravehicular Activity (EVA) hardware, and other systems of hardware as assigned
Operation of machine equipment includes 3D printers, RF welding machines, fabric laser and wheel cutters, and various low pressure air systems
Provide assistance to engineers in the location and diagnosis of anomalies and recommends corrective action through liaison
Daily tasks associated with reading engineering drawings/schematics, equipment specifications, test procedures etc.
Specified training online, and in classroom, as required to maintain certifications to perform job functions
Daily updates to various job-related database(s)
Adherence to Quality and Safety requirements
Transportation responsibilities to operate motor vehicle for delivery of hardware to various events
Daily verbal and written communication with other technicians, leads, engineers, managers, other personnel and customers
