About The Position

This position will use ionizing radiation to perform advanced level technical invasive and non-invasive mammography procedures for radiologic diagnosis, in accordance with the regulatory agency requirement. This position will also perform screening and diagnostic mammography exams.

Requirements

  • High school graduate/or equivalent
  • Graduate of a formal radiologic technology training program, that meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Washington State Certified Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Current ARRT (R)(M) License
  • 2 years (4160 hours) mammography experience with 1 year (2080 hours) of diagnostic exam experience
  • Employed with EvergreenHealth for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate high-quality work/ images over time as determined by the Radiologist.
  • EvergreenHealth’s Procedure Technology training will be completed in the mammography department. Leadership will confirm and sign-off once the internal applicant has successfully completed the training and proficiency checklist.
  • Must have current BLS Healthcare Provider certification by date of hire

Responsibilities

  • Sets, adjusts, and controls a variety of electronic equipment to perform placement of Localization Device(s) and Biopsies, including Stereotactic, post-procedure examinations.
  • Responsible for setting up procedure tray for Radiologist and post exam disinfection of procedure room, including disposal of bio-hazardous materials.
  • Communicates with patient prior to the procedure and provides instructions related to after care.
  • Monitors patient throughout procedure to address any physiological changes.
  • Handles all specimens properly.
  • Always maintains the patient's privacy and confidentiality. Constantly aware of the patient's dignity.
  • Performs regular quality control (QC) testing on biopsy system; both prone and upright.
  • Performs designated review of the patient’s chart ensuring all necessary documents are present and correct (i.e.: orders and outside imaging).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
