About The Position

The Reading Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join our CT Surgery team. The General Cardiothoracic Surgical Advanced Practitioner works with the Cardiothoracic Surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals in coordinating and delivering patient care in a limited, non-cardiac surgical arena of the cardiothoracic surgery service. Facilitates communication between the patient and family, various hospital departments, the Nursing Service and the Medical Staff; function as a clinical expert in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Program and will practice to the fullest extent permitted under all current state and federal laws, and according to approved policies. This position is a In Office Support Position. We are looking for a NP or PA who does Consults and rounding, direct admissions, and discharges, runs ICU at night when performing night call and covers floor coverage during the day. The APP will also assist surgeons with pre operative work, consults and communications with the patients , prescribe and order pre and post operative diagnostic studies, performs H&P’s as well as possesses the advanced knowledge in hemodynamic management of ventilators, ventricular assist devices, the pharmacological effects of vasoactive cardiotonic drugs, and adult critical care in order to function at the highest level of autonomy within limits of advance practice licensure.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be certified, with an active Professional Pennsylvania license (PA or NP)
  • BLS and ACLS must be current
  • Master's Degree
  • Relevant Experience
  • BLS Certification
  • Certification or CE Units Specific To Departmental Area
  • PA Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner License
