Under general supervision, the Advanced Practitioner is accountable for the clinical management of patients. This role requires a high level of analytical ability for assessing patients and implementing appropriate interventions, as well as substantial interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, physicians, patients, and family members. The position involves assuming responsibility for the initial evaluation and treatment of patients, performing initial history and physicals, writing standard orders, and discussing findings with the attending physician and nursing staff. The Advanced Practitioner will evaluate patient progress, initiate referrals, write progress notes, establish medical diagnoses, and make immediate referrals for acute or life-threatening conditions. Additionally, the role includes performing technical functions as delegated, monitoring patient response, acting as a clinical resource, supporting performance improvement initiatives, and educating patients and families on preventative healthcare and current medical conditions. The practitioner is also responsible for pursuing educational advancement and attending mandatory inservices.
