About The Position

This position involves assessing, evaluating, and managing patients in accordance with current APRN professional practice standards, evidence-based standards, and medical treatment guidelines. The role requires accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, collection and evaluation of patient data, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, providing preventive health care services, prescribing medication, and initiating and managing contraceptive methods for Family Planning patients. The APRN will also educate and counsel patients on various contraceptive methods.

Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing graduate program in family practice.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and assorted software.
  • Competent in the use of an EMR for “real time” documentation.
  • Competent in the use of equipment and supplies related to the position.
  • Ability to provide Patient/Family Centered Care.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Licensure in the State of Florida as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • Certification as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in accordance with Chapter 464. Florida Statutes, and in accordance with Rule 64B9, Florida Administrative Code
  • Master’s degree
  • One year clinical experience as an APRN
  • Willingness to travel to multiple clinic sites in Nassau County as needed for coverage

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years’ clinical experience as an APRN
  • Experience in Women’s Health, Family Practice or Infectious Disease
  • Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, and manage patients in accordance with current APRN professional practice standards, evidence-based standards, and medical treatment guidelines, and in consultation with supervising physician when indicated.
  • Documents all observations and actions accurately and in accordance with program guidelines, including prescribed timelines.
  • Collects data pursuant to and evaluates patient complaints, medical histories, and physical findings.
  • Orders diagnostic laboratory tests for evaluation and management of patients and interprets and evaluates laboratory results.
  • Provides preventive health care services in relation to programmatic guidelines.
  • Prescribes medication and accurately documents medication in the electronic medical record.
  • Initiates and manages contraceptive methods for Family Planning patients after evaluation, history, laboratory tests, physical assessment and examination.
  • Educate and counsel patients regarding use of oral contraceptives, Depo-Provera injections, natural family planning, and long-acting reversible contraceptives.
