About The Position

The Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (PMH APRN) provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management services to children, adolescents, and/or adults in an outpatient behavioral health setting. The APRN works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver evidence based, trauma informed, and person centered care.

Requirements

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Current APRN license in the state of Arkansas
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP BC)
DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
Eligible for credentialing with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurers
Ability to compute drug dosages.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Ability to use computer and electronic medical record systems.
Ability to communicate effectively in person and via telephone/video.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

Experience in outpatient behavioral health settings
Knowledge of trauma informed care and evidence based psychiatric treatment
Experience working within interdisciplinary treatment teams

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and risk assessments
Diagnose mental health disorders in accordance with DSM 5 TR criteria
Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications within scope of practice and state regulations
Provide ongoing medication management and follow up care
Monitor treatment response, side effects, adherence, and overall clinical progress
Provide psychoeducation to clients and caregivers regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment options
Collaborate with therapists and other providers to develop and update individualized treatment plans
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations, as requested
Coordinate care with primary care providers, schools, and other external systems as appropriate
Refer clients to higher levels of care when clinically indicated
Complete timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
Maintain compliance with agency policies, state and federal regulations, and payer requirements
Adhere to ethical standards and professional scope of practice
Participate in quality assurance and utilization review activities as required
Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc. and the clients.
Consumers’ progress notes be maintained and completed daily or as needed on the prescribed forms.
Consumers’ records must be maintained weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
All information must be filed in consumers’ records as needed and updated as prescribed by funding sources.
