Loyola University Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our inpatient Gastroenterology team. This role provides advanced clinical care in an acute care setting, managing a diverse population of patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions. The APP will work both independently and collaboratively with attending physicians, fellows, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • CPR – Basic Life Support
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Nursing – Current Registered Nurse License - State of Illinois (RN)
  • Nursing – Nursing Practitioner License – State of Illinois (APN)
  • Physician Assistant License – State of Illinois (PA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal conditions, including liver disease, GI bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, and other acute GI disorders
  • Perform detailed patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the GI team
  • Manage inpatient consultations and follow-up care, ensuring timely evaluation and intervention
  • Order, interpret, and act on laboratory, imaging, and procedural results
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice and assist with GI procedures as needed
  • Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams, including case management and ancillary services
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support evidence-based practice standards
  • Maintain high standards of care aligned with Loyola Medicine’s mission and values
