About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is seeking an energetic individual for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider position within the Outpatient Advanced Lung Clinic in the Center for Lungs and Breathing (CLB) at the University of Colorado Hospital. The position would hold the title of Instructor of Medicine with the Division at the University of Colorado. The Division oversees a regionally and internationally recognized referral center for the care of patients with all forms of pulmonary disease and critical illness. The responsibilities would include the assessment and ongoing management of patients with underlying pulmonary disease. The provider would work closely with the Physicians with the CLB and would care for patients within the General Pulmonary Clinic as well as the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Clinic and COPD Clinic. The provider would participate in multi-disciplinary conferences for these respective clinics and help gather and present data within these conferences.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master’s degree in Advanced Practice Nursing or a graduate of an accredited program in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Current active license to practice in the state of Colorado as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant.
  • Prescriptive authority is required.
  • Currently credentialed as an APRN or PA by the appropriate national certifying body

Nice To Haves

  • Pulmonary Medicine experience is preferred, however experience in an Internal Medicine discipline will be considered.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple medical providers, the interprofessional care team and a variety of medicine disciplines.
  • Ability to function autonomously within the scope of practice of an APP in pulmonary medicine.
  • Interest in supporting academic research.
  • Experience in an academic learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Full clinical care responsibilities for pulmonary patients in the CLB, working both autonomously and in partnership with attending physicians.
  • Evaluation, assessment and management or co-management of pulmonary conditions common in the COPD, ILD and General Pulmonary outpatient clinics.
  • Post-visit clinical care management, including communications with patients by telephone, electronic medical chart messaging, medication management and similar duties included in outpatient clinical care.
  • Engaging and communicating with consulting services
  • Participation in multi-disciplinary conferences for these respective clinics and help gather and present data within these conferences.
  • Possible enrollment and follow-up of patients in clinical trials, where appropriate.
  • Work within an interprofessional team and provide professional leadership within the team when appropriate.
  • Support learning environments for the various learner types in an academic outpatient clinical setting.
