About The Position

Riverside Health System is seeking a full-time dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cardiac Electrophysiology team in a dynamic role that blends both inpatient and outpatient care. Located in Newport News Virginia. This role is a blended inpatient and outpatient position focused on providing high-quality care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias in collaboration with a team of electrophysiologists, cardiologists, and clinical staff. The EP APP plays a key role in improving patient access and ensuring continuity of care across the inpatient and ambulatory settings. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of cardiovascular specialists, providing comprehensive care to patients with arrhythmias and other cardiac conditions.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current licensure in Virginia (or ability to obtain)
  • Prior cardiology experience required
  • EP experience strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff
  • Eligibility for Virginia medical licensure
  • Valid DEA registration
  • Commitment to professional standards and continuous learning

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new referrals and manage follow-up visits in the outpatient setting.
  • Perform inpatient consultations and daily rounding.
  • Support coordination and discharge planning for electrophysiology procedures.
  • Provide inpatient EP consultations and daily follow-up care.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with atrial fibrillation, SVT, ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, and other rhythm disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with EP physicians on care planning and clinical decision-making.
  • Assist with care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education.
  • Review telemetry, ECGs, labs, and diagnostic studies relevant to EP care.
  • See new and established EP patients in the clinic setting.
  • Conduct post-procedure and longitudinal follow-up visits.
  • Manage antiarrhythmic and anticoagulation therapies under physician guidance.
  • Provide patient education on arrhythmia management, procedures, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Coordinate care with referring providers and other cardiology subspecialties.
  • Assist with device-related patient care, follow-up, and coordination with device clinics.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, workflow improvement, and program growth.
  • Accurately document all clinical encounters in Epic in accordance with regulatory and billing requirements.
  • Conduct thorough physical exams and health assessments.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Provide patient counseling and education.
  • Prescribe and manage treatments.
  • Document clinical findings accurately.
  • Participate in pulmonology consultations as needed.
