About The Position

Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician. Texas Tech Health El Paso (TTEP) is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas. Additionally, this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities. All work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP.

Requirements

  • Graduation for a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer licensee to Texas.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to physician.
  • Assess, plan implement and evaluate clinical needs of patients.
  • Assist with consults and admissions.
  • Assist with rounds (writing notes, order and wound care, etc..).
  • Write discharge orders and dictate discharge notes.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Provide wide variety of surgical procedure.
  • Collaborate and serve as liaison between providers, consultants and medical staff.
  • Participate in outreach and educational events.
  • Remains current with all licensures, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
  • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork).
  • Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
