Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or equivalent degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program OR Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Louisiana
  • Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • National certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), Women's Health NP (WHNP), or other appropriate specialty
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Louisiana Physician Assistant license
  • NCCPA certification
  • DEA registration (if applicable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software and Crystal Report Writer.
  • Must type a minimum of 65 wpm.

  • Minimum three years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider preferred.

  • Experience in General Surgery preferred.
  • Experience in Oncology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Surgical Oncologist in providing comprehensive surgical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and perioperative management.
  • Provides independent evaluation, follow-up care, symptom management, survivorship care, and management of benign breast disease within established protocols.
  • Provides active participation in all aspects of clinical operations, multidisciplinary coordination, and physician support.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients, families, staff, and community regarding breast health and breast cancer care.
  • Participates in quality improvement, professional development, patient advocacy, and resource management.
