About The Position

Dermatology Associates of Virginia is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their independent physician-owned dermatology group serving the Greater Richmond-Petersburg area. The role involves performing in-person dermatology assessments and procedures under the supervision of board-certified dermatologists. This is a patient-focused position in a busy, well-supported environment with immediate patient volume and strong operational infrastructure.

Requirements

Licensed NP or PA in the State of Virginia
Minimum 2 years of dermatology experience as a practicing provider required
Comfortable managing medical dermatology independently
Procedural experience (biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions preferred)
Efficient, patient-focused, and collaborative
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Master’s Degree from an accredited NP / PA Program
NP / PA Certification
Current NP / PA license for Virginia
2+ years of experience as a medical dermatological Advance Practice Provider (APP)
Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
Must acknowledge and agree to the Practice’s policies including the drug and alcohol policies.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat a wide range of dermatologic conditions
Perform procedures including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, etc.
Manage both medical and surgical dermatology patients
Ability to work independently, but knows when to consult a supervising physician
Practices within the scope designated by the physician leadership team
Comfortable seeing 140 patients per week
Provides necessary directions to clinic staff members.
Workload includes general medical dermatology as well as surgical dermatology
Ability to build patient relationships by appropriately matching patient needs to the numerous services and products we provide
Use appropriate techniques to diagnose and treat skin ailments.
Works with physicians and medical assistants to prescribe and administer treatments
Monitor the effectiveness of skin treatments and make necessary improvements or changes.
Educate patients on ways to achieve healthy, attractive skin.
Perform surgical procedures and biopsies to identify diseases and determine appropriate therapies.
Document and update patient records
Refer patients to specialists as needed
Work autonomously
Manage patient questions and concerns professionally and courteously
Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the practice
