About The Position

Dermatology Associates of Virginia is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their independent physician-owned dermatology group serving the Greater Richmond-Petersburg area. The role involves performing in-person dermatology assessments and procedures under the supervision of board-certified dermatologists. This is a patient-focused position in a busy, well-supported environment with immediate patient volume and strong operational infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Licensed NP or PA in the State of Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of dermatology experience as a practicing provider required
  • Comfortable managing medical dermatology independently
  • Procedural experience (biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions preferred)
  • Efficient, patient-focused, and collaborative
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited NP / PA Program
  • NP / PA Certification
  • Current NP / PA license for Virginia
  • 2+ years of experience as a medical dermatological Advance Practice Provider (APP)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Must acknowledge and agree to the Practice’s policies including the drug and alcohol policies.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of dermatologic conditions
  • Perform procedures including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, etc.
  • Manage both medical and surgical dermatology patients
  • Ability to work independently, but knows when to consult a supervising physician
  • Practices within the scope designated by the physician leadership team
  • Comfortable seeing 140 patients per week
  • Provides necessary directions to clinic staff members.
  • Workload includes general medical dermatology as well as surgical dermatology
  • Ability to build patient relationships by appropriately matching patient needs to the numerous services and products we provide
  • Use appropriate techniques to diagnose and treat skin ailments.
  • Works with physicians and medical assistants to prescribe and administer treatments
  • Monitor the effectiveness of skin treatments and make necessary improvements or changes.
  • Educate patients on ways to achieve healthy, attractive skin.
  • Perform surgical procedures and biopsies to identify diseases and determine appropriate therapies.
  • Document and update patient records
  • Refer patients to specialists as needed
  • Work autonomously
  • Manage patient questions and concerns professionally and courteously
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the practice
