Assist in the care and treatment of patients as delegated by a physician. Promote and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. This role involves obtaining detailed patient histories, performing physical examinations, making diagnoses, providing treatments such as setting broken bones, prescribing medicine, performing salutary procedures like administering injections and managing wounds and infections. The APP will also order, perform, interpret, and schedule diagnostic studies, provide counseling on health habits, and instruct patients on physician's orders regarding diet, physical therapy, and the use of physical adjuncts to therapy. Additionally, the APP will assist the supervising physician in managing hospitalized patients, including checking clinical status, explaining tests or therapy, reporting progress, checking study reports, assisting with documentation, arranging follow-up care, assisting in surgery, and making rounds. Maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA) is crucial, and the APP must understand and comply with state laws governing their practice. The role also requires utilizing effective communication skills, promoting The Hughston Clinic's role in the community, providing support to other staff, demonstrating confidentiality, reflecting THC values, and promoting resolution of concerns and conflict.
