About The Position

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing Radiology team in Waterloo, Iowa. This is a unique opportunity for an APP interested in developing advanced procedural skills while working alongside an experienced team of radiologists and interventional radiology specialists. This position will focus primarily on procedural care, helping improve patient access, turnaround times, and overall efficiency within our Radiology Department. New graduates with strong procedural aptitude are encouraged to apply. The APP will work collaboratively with the Radiology team to perform a variety of diagnostic and image-guided procedures under established departmental protocols and privileges. This role is heavily procedural with limited clinical consults and rounding responsibilities. Following successful completion of training and competency requirements, the APP will perform approved procedures independently within granted privileges.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current or eligible Iowa licensure
  • DEA certification (or eligibility upon hire)
  • BLS certification
  • Strong clinical judgment and patient-centered approach

Responsibilities

  • Perform approved image-guided and diagnostic procedures in accordance with departmental privileges
  • Evaluate patients prior to procedures
  • Obtain informed consent
  • Provide patient education and procedural instructions
  • Manage post-procedure care and follow-up
  • Collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, and imaging technologists
  • Assist with more complex interventional radiology procedures as appropriate
  • Support quality, patient safety, and workflow improvement initiatives
  • Participate in limited consultative and rounding activities as needed
