About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider works within a collaborative practice agreement to provide advanced nursing care for patients in the behavior health setting. In collaboration with the physician and other health care team members, they plan and coordinate care to achieve optimal patient outcomes. As a clinical expert, the APN implements individualized treatment plans, evaluates outcomes, modifies treatment plans as needed, coordinates care for complex patients, provides patient education, and facilitates discharge planning. This role requires the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to solve problems and design clinical or administrative systems. High-level communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with all health care team members. The work generally involves significant decision-making authority regarding procedures, plans, and schedules. The role may involve unpleasant patient care duties and working with equipment where carelessness could result in minor injuries. Physical requirements include the ability to walk or stand for extended periods, lift or carry objects over 20 pounds, lift or position patients, proofread documents, use a keyboard for data entry, and closely examine specimens, images, or reports. On-call rotation may be expected.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN or MS) or Master's as a Physician Assistant.
  • BC/BE Psychiatry.
  • State of Illinois Advance Practice Provider License or application pending.
  • IL Controlled Substance License pending.
  • CPR Certification issued by either the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Current or previous experience caring and managing patients in a Behavior Health setting required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care for patients in the behavior health setting within a collaborative practice agreement.

  • Perform patient care duties and work with equipment.
  • Walk or stand for an hour or more at a time.
  • Lift or carry objects weighing more than 20 pounds.
  • Lift or position patients.
  • Proofread and check documents for errors.
  • Use a keyboard to enter, retrieve, or transform words or data.
  • Closely examine specimens, images, or reports.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
