The Division of General Surgery is seeking a Physician’s Assistant to join our transplant team, a group of professionals who are committed to providing excellent care in a supportive environment. The candidate accepting this position will contribute to an active clinical and surgical practice in an education setting including medical students, surgery fellows, and residents. A minimum of 1 year experience in pediatrics is required, experience in the operating room is preferred. If desired, a research interest will be fostered by the section and in conjunction with the new, state-of-the-art Children’s Mercy Research Institute. About the Division of General Surgery The Division of General Surgery within the Department of Surgery at Children’s Mercy is a leading clinical, teaching, and research program in the United States. The Division is comprised of 8 full time pediatric surgeons and 15 advanced practice providers, delivering care for approximately 7000 clinical visits and performing more than 3000 surgical cases annually. The Division of General Surgery oversees three fellowship programs, including Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Surgical Scholar, as well as provides training for rotating general surgery residents. The Division of General Surgery provides Medical Leadership to Children’s Mercy Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Program (ACS), Burn Program, and Level 1 Children’s Surgery Program (ACS). Physician Assistants II (PA-II) provide proficient, comprehensive health care services to a defined patient population; obtaining the health history; performing a physical examination, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures; formulating and implementing a plan of care; and participating in patient and family education. Each PA II demonstrates commitment to professional leadership and provides leadership for quality & outcomes improvement activities, clinical research or evidence based practice, and organizational development.
