About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care within the inpatient, OR, and ambulatory settings. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. This role involves providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for pediatric neurosurgery patients, with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and a commitment to safe, quality care. The APP will work in close collaboration with Neurosurgery Faculty, APP Colleagues, Neurosurgery Residents, and Interdisciplinary Teams. The patient population includes premature infants through young adults requiring neurosurgical evaluation and treatment. The primary work location is the Milwaukee Campus with occasional clinic visits in Appleton (two to three times annually). There are opportunities to participate in quality improvement and research, and the division supports continuing medical education (CME).

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN Licensure
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous APP Pediatric Surgical Specialties and/or Neurosciences experience preferred.
