About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated, full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP), which includes both Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA-C), to join our Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery team as a First Assist. The primary duties of this role are centered in the Operating Room (OR), assisting in complex pediatric orthopedic surgery cases. Beyond the OR, you will provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for the clinical management of patients across ambulatory, emergency department, and inpatient settings.

Requirements

Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington (for Nurse Practitioners).
Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner (for Nurse Practitioners).
Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington (for Physician Assistants).
Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (for Physician Assistants).
Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary surgical first assist in pediatric orthopedic surgery cases.
Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform detailed physical examinations.
Manage patients across all care settings, including the OR, inpatient floors, emergency department, and outpatient clinics.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe appropriate medications; and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
Direct and participate in comprehensive case management and continuity of care for our vulnerable pediatric patient population.
Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
Actively contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects.
Participate in clinical research efforts and provide vital education to patients, families, and fellow healthcare team members.
