About The Position
The Cancer & Hematology Centers are dedicated to providing help, healing, and hope for cancer patients and their families. They offer advanced treatments, innovative research, and compassionate care, focusing on a comprehensive and contemporary approach balanced with a dedicated nursing and support staff. The team includes oncology-certified nurses, social workers, experienced lab and pharmacy personnel, and a psychologist. The center emphasizes helping patients adjust to the emotional and physical realities of cancer, offering resources and support. Their cutting-edge cancer care is accessible locally, with medical staff maintaining close ties to prominent hospitals and ongoing cancer research, bringing breakthrough advances to regional centers. This full-time Advanced Practice Provider - Outpatient role will support Benign & Malignant hematology. The position involves working days from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, totaling 40 hours per week across four 10-hour shifts at the Muskegon site.
Requirements
- Certified and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Holds current BLS card for Health Professionals

Responsibilities
- Obtains comprehensive histories and physical examinations that reflect the acuity and presenting complaint of the patient. Document/dictate progress notes that appropriately capture the content of the obtained history and physical.
- Functions in the role of an APP to coordinate and deliver comprehensive medical care including following treatment protocols and pathways, writing orders/medications to support patient’s plan of care, ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiographic studies, and seeking consultation from attending physicians as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborates with support staff and nursing teams to optimize patient care outcomes effectively. Acts as a resource to nursing, support staff and students appropriately.
- Communicates in a timely and effective manner with supervising physician(s) as needed for continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Serves as a patient advocate and provides patient education and/or referrals for optimal outcome and continuity of care. Provides effective communication patient/family members that demonstrate sensitivity to their individual needs and concerns.
- Performs other tasks, procedures, or duties within his/her scope of practice as assigned.
