About The Position

Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician. Provide comprehensive medical care to OB/GYN patients, including health assessments, physical examinations, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain detailed patient and family histories, interpret clinical data, and order/perform diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs.
  • Perform therapeutic and preventive procedures including immunizations, injections, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based patient care plans, document progress, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment adherence, disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide emergency medical care when necessary, in alignment with clinical protocols and patient safety standards.
