About The Position

Performs responsible clinical care in collaboration with the unit physician and under approved protocols, manages the medical aspects of care in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, care and counsel, and health teachings of persons who are ill, injured or infirm or experiencing changes in normal health processes; and in the promotion and maintenance of health of prevention of illness in a clinical setting. Works within a team of Women’s Health Providers for RWSP North clinic locations. Responsible for the health care provided and will utilize age specific developmental principles when providing care.

Requirements

  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • No experience required (for Physician Assistant role)
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB)
  • Completion of a graduate level (or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • No experience required (for Nurse Practitioner role)
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
  • Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
  • 2+ years nursing experience in Women’s Care, Obstetrics, Antepartum, Postpartum care, Dysplasia in either inpatient or ambulatory setting.
  • Master’s in Nursing or Master’s in Physician Assistant studies, and licensed in the State of Texas with Board Certification PA, FNP, WHNP, CNM

Nice To Haves

  • Prior advanced practice provider experience in the ambulatory women’s health setting with previous experience caring for OB & GYN patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide OB & GYN primary health care to the patient and family throughout the course of care.
  • Use the processes of assessment, diagnosis, management, and evaluation to provide care that integrates the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient and family.
  • Establish a therapeutic relationship with the client and family.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and provide appropriate health education and counseling in response to patient needs.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the profession, seek to ensure high quality care within the RWSP, and demonstrate leadership skills in achieving improved outcomes for all clients and their families.
