About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing comprehensive endocrinology care to patients under the supervision and collaboration of the supervising physician(s). This position includes the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, education, and ongoing management of patients with endocrine disorders, with a primary focus on diabetes management as well as thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, metabolic conditions, and other endocrine disorders. The APP will provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care while promoting excellent patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and continuity of care consistent with the mission and standards of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Tennessee Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
  • DEA registration and Tennessee Controlled Substance Certificate, as applicable.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • National certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
  • Evidence-based management of endocrine disorders.
  • Diabetes technology, including CGMs and insulin pumps.
  • Pharmacologic management of endocrine diseases.
  • Current clinical practice guidelines.
  • Electronic medical records.
  • OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety standards.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory and diagnostic findings.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred.
  • Prior endocrinology experience preferred.
  • Experience managing diabetes, insulin therapies, CGM systems, and insulin pump technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining complete medical histories, conducting physical examinations, reviewing prior medical records, and documenting findings accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Evaluates lab results, imaging, and diagnostic testing to establish diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Diagnoses and manages endocrine disorders including, but not limited to: Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes, Thyroid disorders, Osteoporosis, Adrenal disorders, Pituitary disorders, Parathyroid disorders, Obesity and metabolic disorders.
  • Prescribes medications, including insulin and other injectable therapies, in accordance with Tennessee law, clinic protocols, and evidence-based practice.
  • Initiates, adjusts, and monitors diabetes treatment plans, including insulin therapy, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pump therapy, and other diabetes technologies.
  • Interprets Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) reports and insulin pump downloads to optimize patient care.
  • Orders, interprets, and follows appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
  • Provides individualized patient and family education regarding disease processes, medications, lifestyle modifications, nutrition, exercise, glucose monitoring, and prevention of complications.
  • Coordinates diabetes education utilizing internal and community resources when appropriate.
  • Collaborates closely with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Provides follow-up care and ongoing chronic disease management.
  • Responds to patient messages, telephone encounters, prescription refill requests, laboratory results, and clinical questions in a timely manner.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and supports departmental performance goals.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA regulations and MMC policies.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service while promoting a positive patient experience.
