Under the direct supervision of a collaborative physician, physician site leader, and practice manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides medical care to patients within a detailed scope of practice. The scope of practice identifies the range of clinical modalities and protocols agreed upon between the NP/PA and collaborative physician. Within the ambulatory care setting, under the collaborative physician and scope of practice, the NP/PA completes physicals; orders diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: e.g., laboratory, x-ray, EKG, etc.; performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management; prescribes medications; instructs and educates patients and their families in proper healthcare, appropriate illness prevention, and home care; and documents in the patient chart progress notes, orders, etc. These aforementioned responsibilities are performed under the scope of practice to optimize clinical outcomes. The NP/PA must be credentialed as a mid-level provider by same Hospital(s) in which the collaborative physician has admitting privileges. This position offers the opportunity to join a collaborative team and develop a 1:1 relationship with physicians, clinical staff members, and management. The provider will practice at the top of their license and form trusting relationships, gaining independence while impacting care and patient satisfaction. The role features a 4.5 day work week with no weekends or evenings, focusing on a full scope outpatient practice, seeing patients of all ages.
