About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the Outpatient / Ambulatory setting. This position is located in Wauwatosa, WI at the Froedtert & MCW Center for Advanced Care. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
  • Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
  • Family NP (FNP)
  • Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in vascular surgery or a surgical subspecialty preferred, including ambulatory clinic management, inpatient consultative care, perioperative management, and operating room support.
  • New graduates may be considered with relevant clinical training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care to vascular patients in the outpatient / ambulatory setting, including pre and post-operative care, routine surveillance of vascular conditions, and wound care.
  • Predominantly provide care to adult patients, though will occasionally provide care to patients under age 18.
  • See and care for patients on an independent clinic schedule with the ability to quickly and easily collaborate with attending vascular surgeons as needed.
  • Frequently collaborate with other specialty care teams to provide care including Vascular Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Surgery, Infectious Disease, and Physical Medicine & Rehab.
