About The Position

MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to care for patients in a high-volume, busy, and thriving urgent care setting. The APP will work alongside physicians and other advanced practice providers, providing compassionate patient care for non-emergent conditions. The center focuses on delivering prompt and convenient treatment for urgent but non-emergency health issues.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant OR completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN (FNP).
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an APP in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • DHEC and DEA registration or eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to obtain DOT certification to conduct DOT physicals.
  • Experience with stable chronic disease state management and primary care across the lifespan (for FNP).

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
  • Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results, in accordance with practice agreements or scope of practice guidelines.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures including local anesthesia administration, incision and drainage, suturing lacerations, basic splinting, wound care, cerumen disimpaction, foreign body extractions, non-surgical epistaxis management, pelvic exams, and IV insertion for fluids/dehydration.
  • Performs basic EKG interpretation with physician over-read.
  • Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with physicians.
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Potential to precept students and facilitate the learning of new team members.
