About The Position

MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to care for patients in a high-volume, busy, and thriving urgent care setting. The APP will work alongside physicians and other advanced practice providers, providing compassionate patient care for non-emergent conditions. The center focuses on delivering prompt and convenient treatment for urgent but non-emergency health issues.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant OR completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN (FNP).
Minimum of 1 year experience as an APP in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
DHEC and DEA registration or eligibility.

Nice To Haves

Willingness to obtain DOT certification to conduct DOT physicals.
Experience with stable chronic disease state management and primary care across the lifespan (for FNP).

Responsibilities

Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results, in accordance with practice agreements or scope of practice guidelines.
Performs therapeutic procedures including local anesthesia administration, incision and drainage, suturing lacerations, basic splinting, wound care, cerumen disimpaction, foreign body extractions, non-surgical epistaxis management, pelvic exams, and IV insertion for fluids/dehydration.
Performs basic EKG interpretation with physician over-read.
Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with physicians.
Documents and bills for direct care provided.
Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
Potential to precept students and facilitate the learning of new team members.
