About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery is seeking a Nocturnist Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide night-time specialty care for the Transplant Surgery service. The APP will provide care for patients of the Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin (F&MCW) Transplant Service Line located in Milwaukee, WI as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Advanced Practice Provider will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality, improvement, and teaching while delivering high-quality overnight coverage.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Acute care nurse practitioner preferred. Will consider FNP or adult care with 2 or more years' experience on Inpatient service or ICU.
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working within Transplant Surgery is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary Health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of Kidney/Pancreas and Liver Program patients as a member of the Transplant Surgery team
  • Manage the transplant population including evaluation and preoperative care, as well as follow up postoperative care and coordination of on-going care
  • Develop expertise in cross continuum care management and treatment interventions specific to this patient population
  • Educate patients and families on preoperative and postoperative care
  • Facilitate and communicate patient, family and other care organizations to promote continuity across the continuum of care
  • Evaluate quality outcomes for the patients under the care of transplant surgery care teams through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes
  • Collaborate with other consultative care teams and the primary team in the management of Kidney and Liver disease
