About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their team in Milwaukee, WI. The APP will join a multidisciplinary team of providers dedicated to maximizing the rehabilitation of patients with General Rehab needs, Stroke, Brain Injury (BI), Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), multi-trauma, etc. in both the inpatient consult service and outpatient setting. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
  • Family NP (FNP
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, brain injury, neurology, neurosurgery, trauma or acute care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
  • Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
  • Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
  • Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
