About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support Neurosurgical services located in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin at the Froedtert South FPPH Campus. MCW Department of Neurosurgery will advance the field of neurological surgery through world-class care, groundbreaking research, and innovative education. This role collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention in a blended environment as a member of the Neurosurgery Service. The provider will write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders. They will order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicate and document information. The role also involves performing procedures beyond core as identified by the neurosurgical services, facilitating and communicating with patient, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care, and attending required training and meeting key regulatory requirements. The provider will evaluate quality outcomes for patients receiving care through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard. They will also acquire information on the most current developments and trends in the Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner field through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature. This position works in both the ambulatory and inpatient environments.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
  • Family NP (FNP)
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • DEA registration

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of APP experience or relevant neurosurgical experience

Responsibilities
