About The Position

Ascension Medical Group is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider with 2+ years of experience in Cardiothoracic / Cardiovascular Surgery to join our cardiac surgery APP team. The team consists of 6 Cardiac Surgeons and 12 Cardiac Surgery PA’s. Incoming APP will be involved with complex CV surgical cases as part of a team of highly specialized physicians and assistants. Position Details: Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients at both Indianapolis locations, St. Vincent Indianapolis and St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest using the Maquet Vasoview Hemopro I and/or Hemopro II systems. Surgical First assistant: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO Insertion, VAD insertion & heart transplant cases. Order, perform and interpret imaging, data and labs. Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and chest tube placement. Navigate and create records in the patient chart using the Sunrise Clinical Manager EMR system.

Requirements

  • 2+ years CV Surgery OR experience preferred
  • Current Board Certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Current prescribing privileges including DEA license for controlled substances.
  • Indiana State License & CSR
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Physician Assistant credentialed from the Indiana Physician Assistant Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
