About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager for Family Practice Services is a dynamic working leader who combines direct patient care with the management, development, and strategic utilization of a team of Advanced Practice Providers. This role serves as a trusted mentor, educator, and advocate for APP professional practice, fostering clinical excellence while acting as a key liaison between APPs and organizational leadership. By translating strategic initiatives into effective operational practices, the APP Manager optimizes provider performance, enhances patient outcomes, and delivers collaborative, high-quality care in partnership with licensed physicians.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience as an APP
  • 1 year of leadership experience
  • Previous experience in a clinic, physician's office, or urgent care setting
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to include prescriptive authority
  • Master’s degree in nursing and successful completion of an acceptable Nurse Practitioner program or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Ohio Registered Nursing/Physician Assistant license

Responsibilities

  • Manages operations and provides oversight related to day-to-day activities of APPs.
  • Plans, directs, organizes and evaluates the delivery of evidenced-based patient care by clinical staff.
  • Plays a strategic role in driving results towards meeting goals and objectives.
  • Manages employee performance by guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of assigned Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Oversees the hiring, training and onboarding process.
  • Develops, administers, and oversees education and assessment of clinical competencies for APPs.
  • Recommends and executes plans for staff engagement, retention and patient satisfaction.
  • Ensures that departmental and intradepartmental policies, procedures, and standards of care are followed and assists in interpreting these to others.
  • Monitors and evaluates data collection and analysis of Quality and Patient Satisfaction Metrics. Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Participates in the review and revision of policies and procedures, as well as standards of care for the overseeing body of Advanced Practice.
  • Contributes to the establishment, implementation and evaluation of short- and long-range goals, objectives, strategies plans, policies, procedures and guidelines. Acts as a collaborator to help achieve goals.
  • Performs history and physical examinations on new and return patients; establishes presumptive diagnosis; establishes the general workup of the patient by ordering appropriate laboratory studies and testing.
  • Works in collaboration with physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
  • Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans within clinical nursing practice and medical care protocols. Reviews, assesses patient medications.
  • Evaluates outcomes of care delivered to patients and initiates changes in the nursing approach accordingly.
  • Triages clinic patient calls. Notify physician of need and follow up with patient according to provider instructions as necessary.
  • Shares responsibility with nurses to talk with patients inclusive of but not limited to refill requests or medication questions and calls in medication orders to the pharmacy. Works with pharmacy on any questions/concerns they have about a patient medication.
  • Works with physicians or other providers in reviewing inpatient and outpatient patient labs, communicates abnormal values to responsible physician, and performs necessary intervention.
  • Collaborates with the nurse/patient/family/physician/and community resources for coordination of patient care via telephone, fax, and electronic methods.
  • Assumes accountability for patient care in making decisions, performing and delegating tasks as necessary, and maintaining a comfortable environment for the patient. Responsible for appropriate documentation in medical record.
  • Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement in the delivery of care.
  • Recognizes patient rights and provides for confidentiality of patient information and for dignity through own performance and in relationship with others.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines; promotes and supports research activities; and utilizes available resources to provide and improve patient care. Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
