About The Position
The interventional radiology physician assistant/nurse practitioner works collaboratively with interventional radiologists in the assessment and therapeutic treatment of patients. The PA/NP serves as a key liaison between referring physicians, patients and radiologists, allowing for the optimal and efficient interdisciplinary coordination of services in the ambulatory and inpatient setting.
Requirements
- Current New York State licensure as a Physician Assistant or a Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner
- Board certification from NCCPA, ANCC or AANP
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Masters Nursing (for NP)
- FNP or AGNP preferred (for NP)
- Bachelors Physician Assistant Studies (for PA)
- Masters Physician Assistant Studies (for PA)
- Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program (for PA)
- Displays a positive attitude toward work assignments, performance feedback, and interactions with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors
- Willingly adheres to Department and Hospital policies and procedures
- Willingly adheres to practice standards outlined by Hospital and governing regulatory bodies
- Maintains computer literacy, including proficiency in Outlook email and E-learning
- Attend In-Service meetings regularly and punctually

- 1-2 Years practicing in an outpatient or ambulatory setting
Responsibilities
- Providing Pre- and Post-procedure assessment and education to patients and their families
- Conducting history and physical exams
- Serving as a liaison between referring physician and interventional radiologists.
- Managing the ambulatory and inpatient procedure schedule
- Ordering and interpreting labs results and prescribing medications
- Initiating coordination of care between radiology modalities and inpatient floors
- Managing and appropriately escalating post procedure issues
- Inserting, evaluating and maintaining Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs)
- Processing Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
- Ordering and administration of contrast agents and providing assessments for premedication
