About The Position

The nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) will work within the outpatient clinic setting alongside our General Hepatology Clinic faculty and staff at VUMC. This NP/PA will be expected to see patients independently as well as working alongside other MD's in providing care for our hepatology patients. The majority of patients seen will be return patients previously seen by one of the physician faculty. The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition seeks a balance in its clinical and research activities. LIC-Physician's Assistant Certified - Tennessee
LIC-Registered Nurse - Tennessee
Relevant Work Experience
Master's degree

Responsibilities

Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination for outpatient patients.
Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
Formulates differential diagnoses by priority.
Diagnoses complications and orders appropriate interventions.
Implements and modifies plan of care.
Demonstrates Professional Practice behaviors including: preceptor/mentoring, education and instruction of students, nursing staff, nurses, graduate and novice nurse practitioners.
Seeks opportunities for active engagement in research and the analysis of evidenced based practice.
Actively participates in Grand Rounds, APN council meetings, faculty and unit meetings, M&M presentations.
Maintains CEUs, and membership in a professional organization.
