About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) GI will report to the Medical Director and the Director of Operations. This role is responsible for providing compassionate and excellent patient care through courteous, efficient, and accurate service. The APP will assist with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations. Additionally, they will mentor clinical personnel and serve as a liaison with patients, staff, providers, and leadership. The APP must be capable of working independently and as part of a treatment team.

Requirements

Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree from an accredited advanced practice program; Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
One of the following current licensures in the State of Rhode Island: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Nurse Practitioner
Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree and a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program.
Must be certified by NCCPA.
Current license as a physician assistant in the State of Rhode Island is required.
Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
Knowledge of basic emergency department, internal medicine, generalist, occupational medicine, and family practice procedures required.
Organizational and analytical skills necessary to maintain efficient workflow.
Ability to adjust responsibilities to accommodate a fast-paced work environment while maintaining excellent customer service and staff interactions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously deal with patients and families, clients, coworkers, clinical staff and physicians.
Progressive thinking for budget, training and quality issues.
Strong leadership qualities.
One year of related experience required.
Must have experience caring for children ages 18 months and above.

Nice To Haves

two years preferred.
Prior Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine experience preferred, some medic or primary care acceptable.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, and treat patient needs within an urgent care setting and triage patients to differentiate between immediate and less urgent care for adults and children 18 months and up.
Effectively manage private, pre-employment and workers compensation patients.
Order medically indicated labs, x-rays, ECG’s, point-of-care tests, injections, referrals, and prescribe medications/treatments.
Perform digital blocks and local anesthesia.
Perform minor surgical procedures such as lacerations and incision and drainage.
Consult with other Providers on medical care as necessary.
Maintain and adequate patient flow on-site by directing and communicating clearly with assisting clinical staff.
Maintain quality assurance of charts and testing.
Handle telephone calls and follow up care about services rendered from patients, providers, company accounts, as well as other clinical staff.
Attend required provider/staff meetings.
Maintain excellent and timely patient records for clinical use, billing use, Physician and peer review.
Educate patients about preventative care and the prescribed treatments.
Manage patients who do not require complex medical management or specialized treatment.
Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, and implement individual patient care appropriate to the age and specific needs of the patient.
Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age.
Complete charting and required paperwork in a timely manner.
Active participation in the development/review of office policies and procedures as well as instructional handouts.
Promotes a safety-conscious work force.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
