The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time breast health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position to provide patient care at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC) Campus. Successful candidates will be expected to support the department's commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. This position provides a faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Associate in the Department of Surgery with an anticipated start date in Winter 2027. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The FHCC Breast Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the Breast Health Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, fellows, and RNs providing medical/surgical management. This individual will be fully deployed at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC), where they will be expected to work four clinic days per week with one administrative day per week. They will independently evaluate new breast complaints, manages high-risk surveillance patients as well as pre- and post-operative patients at FHCC. The APP assesses and manages the pre- and post-operative phases of treatment, performs in-office procedures (such as needle aspiration, skin biopsies, steroid injections, and small incision/drainage procedures), monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with surgeons and peer APP colleagues as needed. They work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician.
