About The Position

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Urogynecology at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Teaching Associate, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. The Division of Urogynecology has an outstanding opportunity for an APP to join our team at the University of Washington Medical Center, Northwest. An ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to Urogynecology patients. The ARNP/PA-C would work collaboratively with the provider team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. The ARNP/PA-C functions within their scope of practice and collaborates effectively with other disciplines to provide state-of-the-art patient and family-centered care. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is directly responsible for multiple large and ongoing educational endeavors including a large, multi-site residency program and five subspecialty fellowships. Our department has 11 separate clinical sections and a research division, all led by nationally regarded clinicians and scientists. Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant Licensure.
  • Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited PA program and licensure as an ARNP or PA-C.
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA-C with DEA.
  • Experience working with medically complex patients and clinical teaching experience.
  • Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in patient care.
  • Previous APP experience of at least 1-2 years necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Women’s Health highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs complex and problem focused H & P's.
  • Understands the biology and natural history of pelvic floor disorders. Provides patient education about the natural history and available treatment options.
  • Evaluates and manages patients getting pelvic floor therapy such as tibial nerve stimulation, pelvic floor PT, and overactive bladder management.
  • Evaluates and coordinates surgical care for patients seeking surgical management of prolapse, incontinence, and/or other pelvic floor disorders.
  • Performs procedures such as pessary fittings according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice.
  • Collaborates and consults with a provider team to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of care.
  • Participates in patient rounds, conferences, and committees.
  • Documents patient care data in Epic in accordance with UWP Policies.
  • Teach and mentor new ARNP or PA-C staff & PA and/or NP students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
