About The Position

Cook Children's has an opportunity for a full-time, (.9 FTE), Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their dynamic urgent care team. The APP will function in a collaborative practice with the physician(s) in an Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) setting. The APP will autonomously perform patient assessments, form diagnoses and interventions according to approved protocols and evidence-based medicine. The APP will treat an average number of UCC patients per hour based on the requirements per UCC policy. The APP will prescribe a variety of modalities to meet the needs of the patient and families presenting to the UCC, up to and including, discharge from the UCC or facilitation of a referral and/or transport to a facility of a higher level of care and prescriptive authority.

Requirements

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required.
• Physician Assistants Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies required.
• Current Texas professional registered nurse license (for APRNs).
• Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license (for APRNs).
• Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner required (for APRNs).
• Current Texas professional physician assistant license (for PAs).
• Certified as a PA-C (for PAs).
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.

Nice To Haves

• Preference is given to APPs with critical care, ED or urgent care experience.
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred (for APRNs).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized areas strongly preferred (for PAs).
