About The Position

Virtua Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking an experienced and compassionate nurse practitioner with a strong interest in perinatal genetics and diabetes management to join our multidisciplinary maternal fetal medicine team. This role offers a unique opportunity to care for pregnant patients with complex medical and genetic considerations, providing education, counseling, clinical management, and care coordination throughout pregnancy. The position will be primarily based in Voorhees, NJ and will travel to other office locations as needed. The ideal candidate is an experienced NP who enjoys patient education, collaborative care, and helping families navigate genetic and metabolic conditions during pregnancy.

Requirements

  • Experience in maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics, endocrinology, women's health, genetics, or diabetes management.
  • Interest in prenatal genetics and high-risk pregnancy care.
  • Experience interpreting laboratory and diagnostic testing results.
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or willingness to obtain certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with prenatal genetic screening and counseling is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal and obstetric care within the scope of practice and collaborative agreements.
  • Evaluate and manage pregnant patients with pregestational and gestational diabetes.
  • Counsel patients regarding diabetes management, glucose monitoring, nutrition, and treatment plans during pregnancy.
  • Participate in the assessment and management of patients referred for genetic screening, abnormal prenatal testing, family history concerns, and fetal anomalies.
  • Collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine physicians, genetic counselors, diabetes educators, sonographers, and other members of the care team.
  • Review laboratory, ultrasound, and genetic testing results and communicate findings to patients.
  • Develop individualized care plans and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Provide patient education and support regarding prenatal genetic screening and diagnostic options.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives as appropriate.
