In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant is responsible for delivering high-quality, outpatient wound care services for patients with acute, chronic, post-surgical, diabetic, venous, pressure, traumatic, and other complex wounds. This role involves working collaboratively with wound care physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary team members to evaluate, manage, and treat a variety of complex wounds using evidence-based practices, advanced therapies, and appropriate procedural interventions. Key responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, development of individualized treatment plans, patient and family education, coordination of care, and ongoing management to promote healing, prevent complications, and optimize patient outcomes. The position also requires performing wound care procedures such as sharp debridement, application of advanced dressings, compression therapy, and management of biologic/adjunctive therapies. Additionally, the role involves ordering, interpreting, and following up on diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, imaging, vascular assessments, and cultures, as well as prescribing medications, wound care treatments, and durable medical equipment. Participation in clinic quality improvement initiatives and contribution to documentation accuracy, workflow efficiency, and best practice implementation are also expected.
