About The Position
STGi is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Clinician (Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner) to provide services at seasonal medical facilities in Yellowstone National Park for the 2026 season. The role involves working in one of three clinics: Old Faithful, Lake Village, or Mammoth Hot Springs. The seasonal facilities (Lake and Old Faithful) operate from April/May to mid/late October. The Mammoth Hot Springs Clinic offers primary care, occupational health, and urgent/emergency care. Old Faithful and Lake Village provide urgent/emergency care, occupational healthcare, and some primary care for park residents and employees. A wide range of patients with diverse injuries and illnesses are treated.
Requirements
- Must be a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Ability to work in a seasonal capacity.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records.
- Skill in administering medications and monitoring patients.
- Ability to record patient information and vital signs.
- Capability to monitor and report patient symptoms and conditions.
- Experience in consulting and coordinating with healthcare teams.
- Ability to modify treatment plans.
- Experience preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
- Knowledge of sterile procedures and supply management.
- Familiarity with anesthesia administration.
- Ability to conduct laboratory tests.
- Understanding of infection control protocols.
- Ability to prescribe or recommend treatments.
- Proficiency in performing physical examinations.
- Experience in training auxiliary personnel and students.
- Ability to treat, lift, move, secure, and transport patients.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, push, pull, operate, and manipulate a patient gurney in outdoor environments.
- Ability to perform emergency care, move patients from danger, and secure them for transport.
- Experience in independently caring for acutely and critically ill patients.
- Skill in interpreting ECGs and rhythm strips.
- Ability to obtain and interpret plain radiographs (extremity and chest films).
- Experience managing cardiopulmonary arrest.
- Proficiency in initial stabilization of major trauma.
- Experience in initial stabilization of critically ill or injured patients.
- Ability to manage myocardial infarction, including thrombolytic agents.
- Proficiency in airway management with Rapid Sequence Airway.
- Experience administering procedural sedation.
- Ability to manage orthopedic injuries, including closed reduction of dislocations and fracture stabilization.
- Ability to identify and report IT and equipment issues.
- Proficiency in utilizing IT systems for database tracking.
- Willingness to attend IT training and complete mandatory training.
- Ability to communicate equipment needs to supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Administer medications to patients and monitor for reactions or side effects.
- Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure stock is maintained.
- Inform physician of patient's condition during anesthesia.
- Administer local, inhalation, intravenous, or other anesthetics.
- Conduct specified laboratory tests.
- Direct or coordinate infection control programs, advising about necessary precautions.
- Prescribe or recommend drugs, medical devices, or other forms of treatment as appropriate.
- Perform physical examinations.
- Provide or arrange for training or instruction of auxiliary personnel and students.
- Treat patients, lift and move patients, secure patients for transport, and transfer patients to medical facilities from remote locations.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, operate, and manipulate a patient gurney in outdoor environments.
- Rescue victims by rendering emergency care, emergently moving patients from danger, and securing the patient for transport.
- Independently care for acutely and critically ill patients, including interpreting ECGs and rhythm strips, participating in obtaining and interpreting plain radiographs, managing cardiopulmonary arrest, initial stabilization of major trauma (vehicular and animal attacks), initial stabilization of critically ill or injured patients, managing myocardial infarction (including thrombolytic agents), airway management with Rapid Sequence Airway, administering procedural sedation, and managing orthopedic injuries (closed reduction of dislocations and fracture stabilization).
- Identify and report problems to supervisor with hardware, telecommunications, or other issues impacting duties.
- Utilize IT systems for database tracking and other deliverables.
- Attend training on IT systems, both initially and with updates; ask for help when needed.
- Complete mandatory IT training by specified deadlines.
- Inform supervisor of IT and other equipment needs, particularly those that prevent completing projects within specified deadlines.
