About The Position

Centerstone is a leading nonprofit behavioral health system dedicated to providing life-changing care. This role involves providing psychiatric evaluation and ongoing treatment, ensuring accurate diagnoses and appropriate pharmacological interventions, and monitoring for medication side effects. The position supports multi-disciplinary interventions and requires maintaining electronic medical records. All tasks are performed under the supervision of a licensed physician, with documentation of supervision in compliance with state regulations. The role also involves professional interaction with other staff, participation in urgent call rotations, and attendance at specified clinic, medical staff, and educational meetings.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with specialized training and licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Has Certificate of Fitness (or initially, a temporary certificate) from the State of Tennessee granting prescribing authority in accordance with state laws.
  • A DEA number is required for all current nurse practitioners. New hires must have applied for a DEA number prior to beginning work.
  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychiatric evaluations and follow-up for patients in a way that conforms to expectations derived from current clinical consensus superimposed on the standard of care.
  • Demonstrates adequate skills for performing traditional nursing duties as necessary.
  • Manages clinical data in a manner that enhances patient care and conforms to professional standards, including communication with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in formal weekly supervision and maintains records of physician supervision.
  • When clinically indicated pursues additional supervision with physician and is responsive to that supervision.
  • Responds to patient and staff questions in a way that is both timely and helpful.
  • Serves as an active participant in clinical staffing team meetings and communicates patient information as needed to therapists, case managers, nurses, and physicians.
  • Attends annual medical staff meetings, quarterly medical staff meetings, and other clinical meetings as required.
  • Meets or exceeds targeted VPU percent Supervision of staff assigned under their leadership.
  • Compliance with annual KPI evaluations and Catalytic Coaching.
