About The Position

As a mechanical engineer for Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Fire Control programs, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for Designing, Testing, Implementing, Building, and Installing Fire Control Tactical, Trainer, and Test equipment. In addition, you will be responsible for the cable plant engineering within those designs. We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences: Cabling and Harness design, Electromechanical equipment design, Electronics Packaging design, Production Support, Installation Support, Environmental Testing, Modeling & Analysis, and/or Drawing development. Experience with Mentor Graphics CHS or Capital Harness is a plus.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
  • Requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
  • Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects
  • Strong communication skills with ability to write technical papers and proposals
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others

Responsibilities

  • Assist in gathering all wire and cable construction, routing, and COORD requirements for a given program
  • Assist in defining processes for design tools and design best practices to implement cabling designs
  • Define material and deliverables for the cable plant on a program
  • Work in a collaborative environment and possibly lead a small team to meet program milestones, budget, and technical requirements
  • Prepare design review material to be presented both internally and externally (to the customer)
  • Provide support to the Manufacturing organization during the build cycle
  • Provide support to the Field Engineering organization during the installation cycle
