About The Position

As an Advanced Mechanical CAD Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will serve as a key contributor and subject matter expert, or developing subject matter expert, in PTC Creo Parametric, Model-Based Definition (MBD), and engineering drafting. You will model complex aerospace hardware—including cast and machined parts, cable and harness assemblies, and printed board assemblies—and create definition data that flows from CAD into PLM. You will establish mechanical-team modeling and documentation standards by applying relevant ASME standards and helping peers do the same. The position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Design Manager and is based in Clearwater, Florida. A hybrid work option is available after an initial 90-day period. Honeywell Aerospace develops products and services for commercial aviation, defense, and space, including engines, cockpit electronics, cabin systems, mechanical components, and connectivity solutions. The Electronic Solutions business develops avionics, navigation systems, sensors, and electromagnetic defense technology. The posting states that the application period is estimated to be 40 days from the posting date, subject to change based on business needs and qualified-candidate availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Creo Parametric modeling, MBD, and drafting of complex hardware, including cast and machined parts, cable assemblies, and printed board assemblies, with CAD-to-PLM integration.
  • Advanced proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric, including complex part modeling, top-down assembly design, skeletons, family tables, parameters, and relations.
  • Demonstrated experience modeling cast and machined parts and designing cable assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of printed board assembly design and ECAD-MCAD data exchange.
  • Hands-on experience authoring MBD data and 2D engineering drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T and the applicable ASME Y14 standards.
  • Experience with CAD-to-PLM integration, including BOM management and engineering change processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required export-control or security eligibility.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain standards and modeling decisions to engineers at all levels.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • ASME GDTP certification at Technologist or Senior level.
  • PTC Creo certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Windchill, or another PLM system.
  • Experience with Creo Cabling and Creo ECAD-MCAD Collaboration, such as with Altium, Cadence, or Mentor.
  • Experience with Model-Based Enterprise initiatives, including supplier acceptance of MBD data.
  • Familiarity with casting and machining processes.
  • Experience developing CAD standards, templates, or training materials.
  • Experience with sensors, guidance, or navigation hardware.
  • Aerospace, defense, or other regulated-industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create robust, design-intent-driven 3D models and assemblies in PTC Creo Parametric for complex aerospace hardware.
  • Model cast and machined parts, including draft, parting lines, machining allowances, and casting-to-machined family relationships.
  • Design and document cable and harness assemblies using Creo Cabling, including routing, connector definition, and formboard or nailboard drawings.
  • Develop printed board assembly models through ECAD-MCAD collaboration, covering board outline, keep-outs, component placement, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Author Model-Based Definition data per ASME Y14.41 and Y14.47, including semantic PMI, annotation planes, combination states, and model organization.
  • Produce 2D engineering drawings where required, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and drawing practices per ASME Y14.100.
  • Manage CAD data in PLM systems, including check-in and check-out, lifecycle states, BOM structure, part numbering, and engineering change management.
  • Perform and support tolerance stack-up analysis to confirm fit, form, and function.
  • Review peer and supplier models and drawings for standards compliance, manufacturability, and design intent.
  • Develop and maintain CAD best practices and modeling guidelines, and mentor engineers and designers.
  • Work with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and electrical and systems engineering to resolve design and producibility issues.
  • Support transition from drawing-based to model-based enterprise workflows.
