About The Position

This senior manufacturing position is accountable for leading the planning, organizing, and controlling of all manufacturing activities and processes necessary to support the delivery of the Phantom Experience to our customers. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will drive a culture of safety, quality (effectiveness), and productivity (efficiency). As a senior technical leader on the Phantom team, they will provide expertise in automation strategy and implementation, achieving corporate and department quality goals, mentor junior engineering staff, consistently demonstrate the organization’s core corporate values, and champion Phantom’s overall strategic vision. Automation is integral to this role, requiring deep technical expertise in automated manufacturing systems to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage.

Requirements

  • A strategic and analytical thinker with a professional disposition and the ability to maintain composure while leading through complex situations.
  • A skilled communicator with proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, capable of presenting confidently to management, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent math abilities and expert working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
  • Flexibility to work non-regular hours to accomplish critical, non-routine project activities.
  • Proficient use of Solid Works / AutoCAD for advanced modeling and layout.
  • Proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite with MS Excel at an advanced level.
  • Familiarity with software programs such as MS Project, Minitab, computerized maintenance management software, and ERP systems is expected.
  • Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License (with acceptable Driver’s Abstract)
  • Ability to travel throughout North America as required (Passport without travel restrictions)
  • Access to an insured vehicle
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment, with a proven track record of leading NPI, extensive automation system integration, and significant continuous improvement initiatives with emphasis on automated manufacturing solutions.
  • Applicants must be available locally and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean certification and/or Six Sigma certification are highly desirable for this senior position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and subject matter expertise and leadership to manufacturing processes, automation, CNC Workstation.
  • Work closely with Product Design team to ensure that new designs are manufacturable in a repeatable, efficient, and perfect quality manner.
  • Analyze and design advanced lean manufacturing systems to optimize space, equipment, material, and personnel. This includes the development of Standardized Work Combination Tables and the integration of automated solutions.
  • Ensure manufacturing conforms to agreed requirements, processes deliver intended outputs.
  • Identify major strategic opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as the facility's subject matter expert concerning new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and applicable legislation.
  • Lead the execution of complex PFMEAs and DOEs to ensure proper process implementation, tolerance stack-up control, and optimization.
  • Ensure all production commitments are met by engineering functional tooling, fixtures, and jigs, and ensuring optimized working processes are employed.
  • This role requires extensive experience in industrial automation and will be the key driver of automation strategy across all manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure specifications are met for new and existing processes, products, and services
  • Read, analyze, and interpret common industrial, manufacturing and technical procedures, professional journals, schematics, diagrams, drawings, and blueprints
  • Specification of equipment, automation, and tooling builds – managing the equipment build projects and leading the commissioning processes and installation.
  • Provide input to product development during the design phase of new products, assess complex process requirements, and provide guidance for design-for-manufacturability (DFM) with automation considerations.
  • Lead and manage all current and new product introductions.
  • Develop, test, and validate complex manufacturing processes and automated systems.
  • Develop, implement and maintain unique identification of products (and services) when necessary to ensure conformity and when traceability is a requirement
  • Perform advanced time, motion, and methods studies—utilizing lean frameworks and Toyota industrial engineering tools—to establish standard production rates and significantly improve efficiencies.
  • Analyze internal and external quality data (customer feedback, complaints, quality escapes) and initiate highly effective manufacturing corrective actions at the root-cause level.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the facility's calibration and verification programs.
  • Audit and report on the effectiveness of the manufacturing and maintenance management system
  • Ensure all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are always implemented and maintained.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the Safety Program, including development of written safe work instructions and completion of assigned safety tasks
  • Provide advanced on-the-job training, mentorship, direction, feedback, and career planning support to junior engineers and production staff.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional meetings regarding the resolution of complex, ongoing challenges, and spearhead the design of new procedures, plant layouts, and process plans.
  • Support supply chain in the establishment of vendor assessments (ensuring vendors are manufacturing product according to specifications) and inspection plans and methods
  • Support engineering in the adoption of best practices / processes
  • Provide project management for site initiatives including but not limited to NPI and continuous improvement projects
  • Support continuous improvement teams
