The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) for Plastics is an entry position into the Plastics AME team. This role involves executing tooling and equipment project activities. These include project Equipment Qualification maintenance and documentation, participating in part and mold design reviews, tracking mold build schedules, supporting mold trial planning and execution and working cross-functionally to achieve final mold/equipment acceptance. This role will work closely with counterparts in the Center of Excellence (COE), which is the internal plastics “supplier” of all Appliance Park in-house molded products.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in injection molding or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Project Management in a technical cross-functional manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with MS Office

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (plastics / mechanical / manufacturing engineering / industrial / electrical)
  • Injection molding design and/or processing knowledge
  • Experience working with End of Arm robotics
  • Working knowledge of GD&T dimensional requirements
  • Experience with MS Project

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and design reviews for injection molds, injection molding presses and associated automation equipment
  • Support the GE Appliances Business Change Request (BCR) process
  • Assist Senior/Principle AME to develop technical specifications to ensure accurate and timely delivery of associated molds/equipment
  • Support Equipment Qualification projects in Oracle Agile, helping to ensure deliverable dates and project status remain accurate and up to date
  • Support Senior/Principle AMEs in reporting on capital spending, project timeline/delivery status and other KPI related aspects of a project
  • Maintain certified Lock Out (LOTO) status for safe equipment operation
  • Support completion of supplier Risk Assessments and EHS approvals of all applicable equipment
  • Participate in part dimensional and tolerance requirement reviews to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Collaborate with Plastics CAE experts to analyze design, quality and productivity related aspects of new plastic part designs
  • Support RFW (Request for Quote) and Pugh Matrix comparisons for supplier selection
  • Support communications within the COE team to ensure smooth plant implementation of molds and equipment
