About The Position

The Advanced Endoscopy Technician works at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida, assisting physicians with advanced and routine endoscopic procedures. Procedures include colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), flexible sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, cholangioscopy, lithotripsy, stent placement, complex stricture dilation, EUS, EMR, ESD, POEM, POP/G-POEM, STER, Zenker’s diverticulotomy, RFA for Barrett’s, cryoablation, achalasia balloon dilation, EUS-guided fiducial placement, celiac plexus neurolysis, and cystgastrostomy.

The technician supports patient care and procedure-room operations, maintains and cleans endoscopes and related equipment, completes required records, and assists with specimen transport and pre-operative calls. The schedule is days, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; the position is PRN.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One year of experience in a hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMT).

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, EGD, ERCP, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and EUS.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of endoscopes and complete documentation logs and records.
• Assist the RN with patient admission, room setup, patient transport, recovery, and final room cleaning.
• Assist nurses and physicians in all aspects of GI procedures.
• Stock rooms with equipment and supplies and follow procedures for cleaning and storing endoscopes.
• Change chemical sterilants and clean scope washers.
• Assess endoscopes daily, report damage to the director, and prepare and send scopes for repair.
• Transport specimens.
• Make pre-operative calls to patients to obtain preliminary information.
