About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for an Advanced Endoscopist to join our expanding Gastroenterology Program. This academic, tenure-track opportunity is open to candidates at all academic ranks and offers the chance to practice within a nationally recognized NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to multidisciplinary oncology care, translational research, and innovation in gastrointestinal disease management. The successful candidate will contribute to the care of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies as well as GI complications arising from cancer therapies and other malignancies. Working within a highly collaborative environment, this physician will partner closely with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and translational researchers to deliver advanced therapeutic endoscopy services and comprehensive patient-centered care. This role is ideal for a physician who is passionate about advanced endoscopy, academic medicine, multidisciplinary collaboration, and helping shape the future of GI oncology care through innovation and discovery.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree with Board Certification in Gastroenterology
  • Advanced endoscopy training with expertise in EUS and ERCP
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered GI oncology care
  • Interest in clinical and translational research collaborations within oncology and therapeutic gastroenterology
  • Passion for academic medicine, mentorship, and educational engagement

  • License or permit to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in General Internal Medicine, Family Practice or other related medical specialty.
  • Medical Doctor degree in the field of General Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive therapeutic gastroenterology services for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies and complex GI conditions related to cancer care
  • Perform advanced endoscopic procedures including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary oncology teams to support coordinated patient-centered care
  • Participate in the diagnosis, staging, management, and supportive care of oncology patients with GI-related conditions
  • Contribute to innovative and evidence-based approaches to advanced GI oncology care
  • Develop and participate in collaborative clinical and translational research initiatives
  • Partner with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and translational scientists across the institution
  • Participate in clinical trials and academic research efforts focused on GI oncology and therapeutic endoscopy
  • Contribute to scholarly activities including publications, presentations, and collaborative scientific initiatives
  • Participate in the academic mission through mentorship, teaching, and trainee education
  • Contribute to a collaborative academic environment emphasizing innovation, scientific curiosity, and continuous learning
  • Support educational initiatives involving fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, and trainees
  • Foster strong multidisciplinary partnerships across clinical and scientific programs
